Jamie MacDonald is a Scottish comedian, writer, actor and voiceover artist. He has been shortlisted with his co-presenter Jamie O’Leary as UK Documentary Presenter Of The Year at the 2022 Grierson Awards.
In 2017 Jamie was named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist as well as reaching the semi-final stage of the BBC New Comedy Award. His credits include Have I Got News For You (BBC One), QI (BBC Two), Blind Ambition (BBC Two), Life On The Blink (BBC Radio 4), The Museum Of Curiosity (BBC Radio 4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4), Fred At The Stand (BBC Radio 4), The 13 Million Club (BBC Radio 4) and Rosie Jones: Box Ticker (BBC Radio 4). He’s also a regular guest on Breaking The News (BBC Radio Scotland) and The Afternoon Show (BBC Radio Scotland) on which he co-hosts a monthly audiobook club. His other credits include Raiders Of The Lost Archive (BBC Scotland), Scotland Made Me (BBC Scotland), Edinburgh Unlocked (BBC Scotland), Jokes Only A Disabled Person Can Tell (All4) and BackChat (Dave). His acting credits include The Scotts (BBC Scotland) and Scot Squad (BBC Scotland). He also featured in the advertising campaign for David Beckham’s fragrance, Bold Instinct.
Jamie has performed 6 solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as performing at comedy clubs all around the UK including Glee, The Stand and The Comedy Store. Jamie successfully toured Scotland with his show, Designated Driver, in 2019.
Jamie lost his sight during his teenage years due to a degenerative eye condition. Jamie studied Ancient History at St Andrews University and Law at Aberdeen and worked as a corporate banker in London before becoming a stand-up comedian.
